Part III………………………………..Letter Task: Compose a letter to the governor of the state that you are researching.
Format your letter as follows: Heading: ü Ramaz Address: Sixth Grade Student 114 East 85th Street New York, N.Y. 10028 ü the Date
Inside Address: ü skip four to seven lines from the heading ü name and address of the person you are writing to
Salutation: ü skip two lines from inside address ü a greeting, such as “Dear,” followed by a colon
The Body: ü skip two lines from salutation ü This is the main part of your letter, it should not be indented, but you must skip lines between paragraphs.
1st paragraph: ü introduce yourself (name, age, school) ü describe the research project
2nd paragraph: ü describe something that interests you about the state ü ask a question about the state
3rd paragraph: ü ask if there is anything that could be sent to you to help enhance your project including: Governor’s autographed picture, brochures, maps, stickers, flag, pencils and pens, key chains ü thank the governor for giving your letter time and attention
The Closing: ü skip two lines from body ü use “Yours truly” or “Sincerely” followed by a comma
The Signature: ü skip four lines and type your name ü handwrite your name in script between the closing and your typed name
Edit your work: ü spell check ü read for errors in grammar and content ü add a border
