Celebrating the Regions of the United States

 Brochure

 

Create a three fold brochure advertising your region.   Divide the six panels of the brochure among your team mates.  Every group member should have a part in the brochure.

Formatting Your Brochure:

1.  Layout:  File-Page setup.  Change margins to .5 on all sides.  Change page orientation to Landscape.

2.  Columns: use Format - Columns and select 3 columns.

3. Titles:  Put a title at the top of each column.  Use Insert- Break-Column break to break between columns.

4.  Formatting:  Decide with your group members:

Choose one font and font size for all text. (size 12-16)

Choose another font and font size for titles (size 14-18). 

Make sure to fill each column with text and images.  Place 1-3 images in each column.  Use FULL SIZE images and resize them to fit your layout. Make sure the pictures are squared within the text.

Make sure to justify text to both sides of the column.

Outside of Brochure:

  • Include a title  of the region above the map

Did You Know?

 

List one unusual or interesting fact per state.  Be sure to include 2-3 pictures enhance this page.

Inside of Brochure:

Historical Facts

 

Write a ten to sixteen sentence description of the history of your region.  You must write in a “persuasive voice” to encourage people to travel to your region. 

 

Begin with an exciting topic sentence and conclude with an assertion as to why this is the most interesting region. 

 

In the body of this paragraph please include:

·         one interesting historical fact of each state.

3 to 6 pictures

Landmarks/Famous Places

 

Write three paragraph per region describing a  landmark or  famous place in each region.  Each paragraph must be 3 – 5 sentences and must be written in persuasive voice to encourage people to visit that region.  Be sure to include:

·        a picture of the landmark

·        a detailed description of the significance of the landmark or famous place

·        a reason why someone would enjoy visiting the landmark/ famous place

Famous People (3)

Write three paragraphs describing famous people from the region.  Each paragraph must be 3 – 5 sentences  Be sure to include:

·        a picture of the person

·        a detailed description of the person's contribution or fame.
