Juliet Capulet
is one of the main characters in
Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet. She is from a very
wealthy family who has a lot of power in Elizabeth England.
She is a girl around the age of 13 and her parents want to
marry her to a man who she does not love, his name is Paris.
She is in love with another man,
Romeo. Juliet is
passionate, poetic, innocent, independent, girl who is just
figuring out her life. She is forced into her life as an
adult with hardly any notice. She is such a wonderful
character and she is very inspiring.
One of
Juliet’s
strongest qualities is her ability to be so independent and
make her own decisions. She has a lot of pressure on her
from her family, the nurse, and Paris but she overcomes this
pressure to be married and falls in love with Romeo.
Although at the end of the play her decision makes her
suicidal she still follows her heart and follows what she
believes in. We can all learn a lesson from Juliet’s ability
to be so capable. Juliet is also very poetic. She uses
couplets,
for example,puns,
and she always matches Romeo’s
wordplay.
